Limbs in Belize

In 2023, Social Architects Jeff Tiessen, PLY and Marty Robinson, CPO traveled to Belize to provide prosthetic limbs to people in need.

During the short but highly productive trip, they were able to fabricate 2 legs and connect with local technicians to arrange for supplies and replacement parts as well as planning the next trip with more fabrication materials and other supplies.
Using materials that were on-hand, they built a walking bar from bamboo and screws and a standing frame from two dining room chairs and proceeded to build two prosthetic legs. That sounds simple, just grab some screws from the garage, or the tool drawer. Things we take for granted, they had to literally hunt for.

The next trip is in the planning stages for early fall 2024 where we'll be setting up a double arm amputee with arms, and bringing supplies like liners and other consumables to the two people above as well as checking the fit and making any adjustments to their prosthetic limbs.
